JOSEPH J. ALBANESE P.E.
CAPT, CEC, USN


Born in Fort Benning, Georgia in 1962 and raised in Newton, Mass. Captain Albanese was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps in 1984. He served on active duty with OICC Mediterranean in Sigonella, Sicily, and with Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, at ROICC New Orleans, La., where he was released from active duty in July 1988. On October 5, 2007, he reported to Newport R.I. and is serving as the Commodore, 7th Naval Construction Regiment.

Since affiliating with the Navy Reserve Program in 1988, he served in numerous billets with NMCB 27 head-quartered in Brunswick Me.; including Communications Officer, Training Officer, Delta Company Commander, Alfa Company Commander, Assistant Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. In 1992, as NMCB 27 Delta Company Commander, he was recognized by the First Naval Construction Brigade as the Reserve Naval Construction Force Company Commander of the Year.

He has served twice with the Seventh Naval Construction Regiment, as Assistant Operations Officer, and Operations Officer, one tour with the Second Naval Construction Brigade as the Training Execution Officer, and one tour with EFA LANT assigned to OICC as the Northern Division Department Head. He was Commanding Officer, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 21 from 2004 to 2005, preparing over 375 men and woman for mobilization in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then completed a tour of duty as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the First Naval Construction Division, and most recently was mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom leading the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment (Forward) as Commander Task Group 56.2, Naval Expeditionary Combat Forces Command, located at Camp Moreell, Kuwait.

Capt. Albanese's personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. He is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist.

A graduate of the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and Boston University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Capt. Albanese is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Vermont and is a member of Chi Epsilon, National Civil Engineering Honor Society. As a civilian, Capt. Albanese has vested his career in the construction management industry in Boston, Mass. In 2002 he incorporated Commodore Builders; Project Planners and Construction Managers. In five years, Commodore Builders has grown into a 3 company, 125 employee enterprise with $85 million annual revenue. Additionally, he serves as President of the Massachusetts Building Congress, the Board of Advisors for the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Department of Civil Engineering, The Wentworth Institute of Technology Industrial and Professional Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors for the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans.
