With that sentiment, RunningBull's Run to Honor America's Veterans was launched to promote the service of these soldiers and to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless American veterans. A 300+ mile long multi-stage event, RunningBull's Run to Honor America's Veterans consists of thematically linked endurance events to honor and thank our military personnel past, present, and future for their services to, and sacrifices for, the people and ideals of the United States of America while also raising awareness to the plight of the 150,000+ homeless American veterans. Grzegorzewski selected the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans (NESHV) as the beneficiary of this campaign due to the history of success demonstrated by its programs and services in assisting veterans solve the problems that led to their homelessness within their substance-free environment. "Running hundreds of miles outdoors through the bitter New England winter has helped me remain focused and motivated while training for my multiple marathons, because our homeless veterans were enduring these same conditions all day, every day," said Grzegorzewski, "and I hope to help put an end to all that through my efforts."
Grzegorzewski, a former New Jersey high school 400m hurdle champion, who now resides in Somerville, MA works as a transportation engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. Joshua has been a member of the Team Aquaphor Healing Ointment endurance athlete team since 2006, and still hopes to gain additional sponsorships to help support and underwrite this tribute of honor to America's Veterans.
The first stage in the 300-mile RunningBull Run began on March 30th at the Bataan Death March Memorial Marathon held at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, where he placed first in the civilian division. On April 21st Joshua next competed in the famed Boston Marathon completing at 2,519 overall, which placed him as one of the top 12% of finishers.
Joshua is also one of four featured athletes this month, on the Team Aquaphor website, where he discusses his campaign to support the NESHV. That report is available at the following link: http://www.teamaquaphor.com/Page1050.aspx For a full listing of all the events this year, along with the results of RunningBull's races, and to help support his efforts, please click here: http://www.active.com/donate/runningbull Throughout the course of the campaign, we will be following Joshua's incredible journey, and will report on his progress and results on our website.
The veterans served by the NESHV have been both highly inspired and deeply appreciative of Joshua's commitment in their honor. Our veterans wish him the very best success throughout his campaign in the RunningBull Run to Honor America's Veterans.
